CAPTAIN’S UPDATE 17 NOV’25

Captain’s Update Monday November 17th, 2025 

Well, it has been a couple of weeks since my last epistle.

Dickie Day has taken on the task of managing the golf days with his usual relaxed approach while I have been unable to play. Thanks Dickie.

I will be away for the next two games, returning for the end of season AGM, game and dinner.

I will give a brief recount of the games I have missed.

Monday 20th October – Lakelands G. C. Final Round of Club Championships.

A grade Champion: – Gary Forbes;

Runner up A grade Champion: – Kevin Greene;

C grade Champion: – Gayle Colella;

Runner up C grade Champion: – Peter Jurenko.

Great to see some of our newer members in the winners’ circle as well as a lady as one of our champions, well done Gayle.

A grade winner Tony Giorgio with nett 71

B grade and overall winner Mick Brazier with nett 69; and

C grade winner Ted Cattley with 34 points.

A grade winner John Ryan with 42 points with 2nd place to Stan Sexton with 39;

B grade and overall winner Terry Porter with 43 points with Wayne Howes 2nd place with 39; and

C grade winner Steve Potter with 40 points followed by Tony Kingsbury, also with 40 points.

A grade winner Clint Cooper with 40 points with Tom Collela 2nd with 37;

B grade and overall winner Terry Prendergast with 42 points with Mick Braziet 2nd with 36; and

C grade winner Ilija Ilijovski with 39 points followed by David Petterson, also with 39 points.  

CITY vs COUNTRY: – 17th November at Pinjarra G. C. Sponsored by WAVGA

A perfect golf day to play the country vets. Even though it was our home game we played it on country vets’ turf. Next year we will be at Kwinana for our home game.

It ended up a very close contest: – City 734 points, Country 735 points.

The individual results for the day were:

  • Overall winner for a $100 Drummond Gift Certificate was Steve Jolly with 41 points;
  • Gross winner was Stan Sexton with 29;
  • A Grade winner was Jeff Heath with 40;
  • B Grade winner was Michael Hilsz with 40;
  • C Grade winner was Steve Jolly with 41;
  • Geoff Scott took out the OBE with nett 39;
  • NTPs were: –
    • Hole 2: Dave Jones;
    • Hole 4: Lawrie Reid;
    • Hole 11: Dave Jones;
    • Hole 15: Craig Hirsch; and
    • Super pin, Hole 2 for $83: Dave Jones.
